Finesse Academie of Fence

Modern and historical Fencing

Modern Classes

Modern fencing is fun – physical, intellectual and emotional. It promotes physical development and conditioning, poise and balance. Fencing can be explored and enjoyed from beginner to advanced levels both as a recreational study and competitively. Finesse Coaches currently teach a wide range of ages and levels of individual fitness. Our standard lessons are conducted with no more than 4 pupils per coach, as we do not believe that fencing can be taught well enough in large classes.

Modern fencing collectively refers to three weapons; foil, sabre and epee, each significantly different in design and fight. All three weapons can be used up to Olympic level by both males and females. Finesse Coaches have NCAS training and supervise trainees. A Finesse Coach must also be able to teach at least one historical weapon. Epee and sabre are offered to those with foil training.

Finesse Coaches promote balance and good posture in their students – two imperative aspects of all swordplay, and of general living! The methods used are specially created by Finesse Coaches. Training updates come from Jojo Azurin (ACT’s 2003 Fitness Trainer of the Year). A Finesse Coach who is a soft tissue therapist and has a Level III Integrated Corrective Exercise certificate plans Mediball and other training sequences.

Success in fencing is the result of discovering, enjoying, achieving and then raising your own standards through sound learning and progressive goals.
